Who is entitled to a funded NHS home eye test?

Anyone who cannot visit their optician unattended is entitled to a NHS funded home eye examination if they fall into one of the categories below:

  • Aged 60 or over

  • Under 16 / under 19 and in full-time education

  • Registered blind or partially sighted

  • Diagnosed as having diabetes or glaucoma

  • Aged 40 or over with a direct relative with glaucoma

  • An ophthalmologist has advised that you are at risk of glaucoma

  • You are prescribed a complex lens
